Help Wanted: Moderators (Please Read)

myke's picture

If anyone out there, would like to help us moderate the message forums, please let me know through here.

We need some people to help us out with a few things to keep this message forum running smoothly, and with the huge expansion we've seen in just the last 4 days (More people have signed up in April so far than all of March), it's going to grow to the point where I can't do it all.. =)

So here's what you would have to do:

#1:The most important thing a moderator can do, is join in on the conversations. This makes sure that conversations keep going.

#2:Move topics to the correct forums if the message is in the wrong forum.

#3:Lock topics if need be (usually, this is done when things start to get out of hand, like dispensary bashing or anything else negative..), posting a reply to the message as to why the post is being closed, and why that behavior is inappropriate.

#4:Split topics. Sometimes a topic's replies start to go off topic. We need volunteers who will notice this, and split out the posts into their own topic.

#5:Delete messages. In rare circumstances, we may need a post deleted (Like if someone were posting someone else's personal information as a form of harassment, etc.)

#6:Let the administrators know if you feel someone needs to be banned.

#7:Announcements and global announcements, when they expire, become a "Sticky" topic, so they show up at the of the forum they were originally posted in. We need moderators to periodically change these to normal messages, so our forums aren't cluttered with old announcements. (Some are fine, but after a while, the first page becomes filled with Stickies. These need to be changed into normal messages, so that new Topics will fit in the first page of the forum.)

#8:Spell check! Although I'd like to think that everyone clicks that nice little "SpellCheck" button immediately under the New Post box that I spent so many hours installing, I don't think everyone does, so I need some Moderators to run a spell check on messages that have been posted. There's no excuse for spelling errors with this spell checker. =)

We would prefer that a moderator has been with the forum for a bit and has participated in the discussions. If you would like to volunteer to become a Moderator, then please let me know, either by posting a reply to here, through the PM system here, or through e-mail: myke@compassionatecoalition.org and thanks in advance to anyone who may be able to help!

Also, as an added bonus, your name will appear in GREEN, a nice healing color. =)
