This post is to announce that I accept Nathan's invitation to become the contact person in Humboldt County for The Compassionate Coalition. Anyone interested in becoming a member of the Humboldt Chapter should first register with The Compassionate Coalition and then contact me next. I would consider it very important that a member of the Humboldt Chapter either have or as soon as possible obtain a "Physician Recommendation for Theraputic Cannabis" as medical marijuana is the most important human rights issue we face these days. I go along with Dennis Peron's statement that all use is medical use. It's a point which can be debated in chapter meetings, but suffice it to say that there are no other established legal protections for marijuana use in the State of California. One is free to join or form a church to try to establish one's religious right but that's a long row to hoe which I know from experience. It's also covered under "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness", but strangely that argument has gotten nowhere in the courts. There are plenty of horror stories of the kind of thing that happens if one is unfortunately brought down by the agents who are paid by the state to enforce the minority opinion. Don't let it happen to you and let's work with what we've got. It's taken much work and courage by those who have been involved to get things this far.
