Hello,

I'm Nathan Sands, Communications Director and Sacramento Chapter Representative for The Compassionate Coalition. I've volunteered in the medical marijuana community for several years now, and helped to create The Compassionate Coalition in 2004, serving as Chairman of the Board until 2006. In that time I've worked to defend the rights of medical marijuana patients by providing education, resources, and training to other patients in our local chapters and beyond. I also speak with media, policy makers, government officials, and others to provide education regarding the rights of medical marijuana patients.

Some of my accomplishments include:
*Testified before the Medical Board of California on guidelines for physicians recommending medical marijuana.
*Testified before the California Board of Equalization on the issue of paying sales tax on medical marijuana.
*Served on the Sacramento County "Task Force on Dispensaries" to help draft new guidelines for dispensaries.
*Testified before dozens of city councils and county boards of supervisors on issues relating to medical marijuana.
*Served as a guest speaker in various drug policy forums.

A little more about my background: I graduate from UC Davis in 2001 with a double-major in Communications and Political Science, with coursework focused on organizational communications and public speaking. I also have additional education in Political Campaign Management, Marketing, Integrated Communications, and web site design. Since graduation, I've worked in the continuing education field for a local university, helping to provide Health and Safety training to professionals throughout the world. And in these times of change, I hope to continue using my experience and education to help move the movement forward, and defend our rights!

I look forward to working with all of you in the future!
