Minutes for the Central Valley Patients Coalition (CVPC)7-22-06

1:00pm : Gathering and discussion of Americans for Safe Access (ASA) and about getting a representative to attend a meeting. Talked to Rebecca about a rep, but said won't be able to until around September or so.

1:15 : Official Call to Order and sign-in of those present at meeting.+ Noted that acting-President Mike O'Leary was unable to attend due to health reasons. There is a total of 10 people attending the meeting. (listed at TOP of minutes) A brief intro for the new attendees and a run down of some of our long-term goals:
- Ways to achieve acceptance and safe access for patients and their caregivers
- Affordability for medicine
- Educating the public the positive uses and effects of medical marijuana
- Making sure the voice(s) of the people are recognized

As well as short-term goals:
- Support for members who have court dates coming up shortly
ie; Brian Marcella on July 28th at 1pm at the Modesto Superior Courthouse at 800 11th Street. Mike O'Leary on August 15th @ 1:00pm also at Modesto Superior Court.
- Helping to get The Healthy Choice reopened.

1:40 : Letter to Editor campaign discussed.
- Effort requested to try and put forth both individual and perhaps a group letter as well.
- Shirley Cox reads her letter aloud as an example. (Letter to be sent later)
- Challenge put forth for those in attendance to send out a letter of their own and have it sent in before the next meeting, with a copy to be brought into August 5th meeting.

1:50 : Lonnie C. Leaves after a misunderstanding in a personal protest.

1:53 : Meeting group regathered and meeting continued.

1:55 : Dates decided for next meeting(s)*

- August 12th
- And for Mike O'Leary's courtdate on August 15th @1pm at the Modesto Superior Courthouse 800 11th Street Modesto, CA 95354
- August 26th

1:56 : Discussion of getting copies of recent ID card aticles. It is mentioned that the dates for the next few meetings should be posted in the window of The Healthy Choice.

2:00pm : Talk of recent article in Mantce Bulletin about Ripon City Council looking to put possible number limit to amount of plants of varying maturity that patients can have. Looks like a possiblity of 6 mature and 12 immature plants per patient and must be grown indoors.

2:05 : Discussion for agenda of next meeting.

2:08 : Meeting officially Closed.
