Board Votes To Appeal Ruling On Medical Marijuana
(AP) SAN DIEGO The San Diego County Board of Supervisors plans to
appeal a judge's recent ruling against the county's lawsuit
challenging California's decade-old medical marijuana law.
The board voted Tuesday to move ahead with an appeal.
The county sued the state and its health services director in
February over a requirement for counties to issue identification
cards to medical marijuana users and maintain a registry of people
who apply for the cards.
San Bernardino and Merced counties joined the suit. The counties
argued that local governments shouldn't be bound to uphold state laws
that are weaker than the federal blanket ban on marijuana.
A state court judge ruled last week that county officials would not
be breaking federal law by giving out state identification cards.
Marijuana users in California can still be prosecuted under federal drug laws.
Fifty-five percent of California voters approved the law in a 1996 vote.

San Diego Appeal
Linda:
It is a sad state of affairs in San Diego County. What is wrong with those Supervisors down there? They are just too much and I hope that they loose the appeal too because the law is the law and they are in the STATE OF CALIFORNIA not the STATE OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.
Geeze, I hope I don't run into that problem in Tuolumne County where I am working now to meet and greet the Board of Supervisors and find out why they have not implemented a State ID Card Program in this County.
Glad to see from Mr. Smith that Merced County is not joining in this farce.
Any help with the approach I should make to the BOS in Tuolumne County would be greatly appreciated from anyone and everyone.
