The US Department of Justice (DOJ) announced a major crackdown on medical cannabis in California last week, and Americans for Safe Access (ASA) needs your help to push them back! Send an email message and/or make a phone call to President Obama telling him to stop the federal interference and intimidation right now.
On Friday, California’s four US Attorneys told reports that all of California’s medical cannabis patients’ cooperatives and collectives are illegal and most close in forty five days. Then they dusted off an old Bush-era tactic by threatening property owners who rent to medical cannabis tenants with criminal prosecution and civil asset forfeiture! On the campaign trail and after taking office, president Obama promised a more reasonable federal position on medical cannabis. It is time to hold him to his word. Send an email and/or make a phone call to President Obama right now. ASA’s Online Action Center makes it easy.
Most legal medical cannabis patients in California rely on cooperatives and collectives for safe access to the medicine they need to treat the symptoms of cancer, HIV/AIDS, Multiple Sclerosis, chronic pain, and other serious conditions. These patients’ associations are legal under state law, and research conducted by ASA indicates that sensible regulations reduce crime and complaints. We must not let the DOJ roll back all the progress we have made in the last fifteen years. Use our sample email or write your own message to President Obama right now.
Thank you for joining tens of thousands of medical cannabis patients in advocates in calling for an end to federal interference and intimidation!
Sincerely,
Don Duncan
California Director
P.S. – Be sure to read ASA’s press release and blog on the federal attack on medical cannabis.
